Week 14: Fetal Movement: Standing and Elongating
Growing by leaps and bounds, your baby is leaping and bounding. He or she is on the move almost constantly — and those movements are a far cry from those jerky twitches of last trimester (though you won't feel any of them for weeks to come). They are now ballet-like, smooth and fluid. If you could catch a glimpse of your fetus now, you'd see a baby the size of your clenched fist (a skill, by the way, your little one now has). Your baby also has the coordination, strength, and smarts to wiggle his or her fingers and toes and even suck a thumb (how cute is that?).
It'll be years before you'll start nagging your offspring to stand up straight — but unbelievably, he or she is doing it right now, without any prodding! No slouch anymore, your baby's neck is getting longer and his or her head is getting more erect (giving a more straightened-out appearance). And speaking of that head, your baby could be sprouting some hair (though the final color may not be determined until birth) and the eyebrows are filling in, too.
Hair growth isn't limited to the baby's head, though. He or she is also covered with a downy coating of hair called lanugo, largely there for warmth. As fat accumulates later on in your pregnancy (the baby's fat, not yours — though that will accumulate, too), most of the lanugo will shed — though some babies, especially those born early, still have a fuzzy coating at delivery (it sheds soon afterward).

13 week appointment
I had my doctor's appointment yesterday...really nothing too exciting. This was my first appointment where I didn't get to see Baby Lew. boo! From what I understand they won't be giving ultrasounds so frequently anymore. Oh well! I guess I have to wait til week 20 now to see him/her.
I've gained 8lbs so far. Not too bad, considering the first few weeks of my pregnancy, I ate myself to oblivion. My blood pressure was good and all of my blood work came back good too. Excellent!
I did get to hear the heartbeat on the doppler for the first time too! So that was neat. She didn't tell me what the beats per minute were, but it was fast and strong!
I go back at 17 weeks on April 22nd.

Week 13 -- Good morning 2nd Trimester!
Yay! I'm in the 2nd trimester now! Now that the weeks are progressing and I've seen Baby Lew a few times, I feel like I can really sit back and relax and enjoy the ride now.
As promised, here is the u/s pic from 11w4d:
Today a pair of my last regular pants bit the dust. They fit just fine last Wednesday when I wore them last, so sometime between then and today, my belly grew haha. And I haven't gained any weight either, so ha-ha.
I have my next doctor's appointment tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get to hear the heartbeat because I haven't gotten to hear it via the doppler yet.
Here's what's going on this week with Baby Lew:
Your fetus is now about three inches long and the size of a peach. But don't compare your fetus with the fetus next door. Starting about now, babies begin growing at different paces, some faster than others, some more slowly, though they all follow the same developmental path. Growing at a universally breakneck speed now is your baby's body as it tries to catch up to the head in terms of size. Though your baby's head is about half the size of its body now, by the time your baby is ready to make his or her entrance into the world, the head will be only one-fourth as large as the body.
Your baby's intestines are also in for some big changes right now. Up till this point, they've been growing in a cavity inside the umbilical cord; but now they're moving to their permanent (and more conveniently located) address, in your baby's abdomen. And to serve your growing baby's needs, the placenta is also growing. It weighs about an ounce now and will weigh one to two pounds at birth (something else you'll soon be able to blame your weight gain on!).
Also developing this week: your baby's vocal chords. Because sound can't travel through your uterus (your baby's current habitat), you won't be able to hear any sounds or cries just yet, but oh boy (or girl) — those vocal chords will get a good workout once that baby is born.

Week 12
This is my last week in the 1st trimester. How exciting! On Friday, we got to see Baby Lew once again! Everything is looking great and it's amazing how big he/she grew!!! The baby was in love with it's hands, it kept playing them and bringing them to it's face. It was really cute! The heartbeat was 160 beats per minute....so maybe a girl? hehehee. The u/s tech said everything looks great.
I have some new pics, but I have to wait to be able to scan them.
Our next peak will be on March 25th, when I have my next Dr's appointment.
Here's what's going on this week:
This week marks a turning point for your baby. The herculean task of developing new bodily structures is nearing an end as most of your baby's systems are fully formed. Now comes the maintenance phase, during which your fetus' systems continue to mature for the next 28 weeks and the organs get to work.
Your little fetus weighs as much as half an ounce now, and the crown-to-rump length is about two and a half inches (the size of a large plum — busily working his or her way through the whole produce department). It's hard to believe (especially from the outside, since you're probably barely showing at this point), but your baby has more than doubled in size during the past three weeks. And that's just on the outside — there's plenty going on inside too. The fetal digestive system is beginning to flex its digestive muscle — literally — as it starts practicing contraction movements, a skill your baby will need after birth to push food through the digestive tract. The pituitary gland at the base of the brain has started producing hormones. And the bone marrow is making white blood cells, which will one day help your baby fight infection (including all those germs passed around the snot-nosed playgroup).

11 weeks
I added a new pic below, so be sure to check that out!
I have to say whoever made maternity clothes is a god. They are the most comfortable things to wear ever. And they make me look pretty good too I must say!
I'm really excited, Friday we have another ultrasound, it's been way too long since I've seen Baby Lew! I haven't gotten to see him/her since Feb. 25th and I can only imagine how much it's grown since then! I'm really happy too that Andy will be able to come to the appointment too. So far it just seems that he has been able to make all of my appointments so far, which is really great considering he has such an unpredictable schedule!
Here's the lowdown on what's going on with Baby Lew this week. Taken from www.whattoexpect.com:
Slightly more than two inches long now and weighing about a third of an ounce, your fetus is growing by leaps and bounds. And so is his or her head, which is equal in length to the rest of the body (don't worry — all fetuses are top-heavy).
On the crown of that large head (and over the rest of the body), hair follicles are forming. Fingernail and toenail beds begin to develop this week and by next week, the nails themselves will start to grow (so don't forget to add a baby nail clipper to your to-buy list).
Your baby's body is straightening and his or her torso is lengthening (sounds like a yoga pose, doesn't it?). Other poses your baby can assume now: stretches, somersaults, and forward rolls. And while you can't tell this baby's gender by its cover yet, testes are developing if it's a boy and ovaries if it's a girl.

Fetal Development - Week 10
Week 10: Fetal Development
Your baby's nearly an inch and a half long and the size of a prune, but not nearly as shriveled. In fact, your baby is really taking a human shape now. Though your baby's arms are developing, each one is only about the size of this number 1.Your baby's growth is fast and furious now. He or she is nearly an inch and a half long and the size of a prune, but not nearly as shriveled (even with all the time it spends in water). In fact, your baby is really taking a human shape now. Bones and cartilage are forming, and small indentations on the legs are developing into knees and ankles. The arms (complete with elbows) can flex already, but don't run to the store for a baseball bat just yet. Though your baby's arms are taking shape and getting stronger, each one is only about the size of this number 1. The tooth bud fairy is making her appearance this week, heralding the arrival of your baby's little choppers, which are forming under the gums. (Those pearly whites won't break through the gums until your baby is close to six months old). Other systems are go, too. Your baby's stomach is producing digestive juices, the kidneys are producing larger quantities of urine, and, if your baby's a boy, he's already producing testosterone (yikes!).

I forgot to mention
I am pretty sure that this baby is eating my brain because since I've been pregnant, I have definately been suffering from "preggo brain".
I forgot to mention that I am due September 30th haha.
Also intutition is telling us it's a girl, but we'll find out the results on May 13th, so stay tuned!

10weeks, 3days
Welcome to our Blog! I hope you check back here often to find out all of the updates on Baby Lew! Here's the scoop:
On Thursday January 31st, I took a pregnancy test, honestly I took it as a joke...I never dreamed I was pregnant. Before I could even blink my eyes...the 2nd line appeared....and dark. Oh My God! That was the first thing I thought to myself. Both Andy and I really didn't want to believe it, we just didn't want to get our hopes up! So, I made an appointment at the Dr. and that afternoon off I went. He did an ultrasound and low and behold....I really was pregnant! What he found was the beginnings of a little baby sac!
After almost 19 nail biting days, we finally got to see our little "sac" again. On February 19th, I had to go for a dating ultrasound. I remember being so nervous and scared. Just so many what if's!!! But there it was....my 8 week old embryo...a little baby forming...it was really there! AND if that wasn't good enough, the u/s tech surprised us with a heartbeat! A nice strong heartbeat!!! Of course at that moment, any fear I had was just washed away.
I had my 1st prenatal appointment on February 25th and we got to see the baby again and gosh did it grow so much in just 1 week!!!
Thankfully now, I am starting to get my energy back a little bit and the constant blah feeling has subsided too.
My next appointment is March 14th for another ultrasound. And I go back to the Doctor on March 25th. So hopefully we'll have some new pics then!
